I have learned and developed many tips, shortcuts and secrets over 37 years while running an antique refurbishing business. I love auctions and repurposing the things no one seems to want. It's my desire to stimulate or encourage your interest in refurbishing wood furniture, rescuing, repurposing and creating useful items for your home. Every piece of wood has a distinct and unique characteristic that must be recognized. Nothing can be manufactured with the beauty of natural grain and patina of wood.

Repurpose Student Desk

We have been so busy with so many things since our last post. Lots of traveling, pickin, buying and repurposing!  I am glad to be back and share some things we have rescued, repurposed and sold. Sometimes I get a great item with big plans on how to repurpose, then I get sidetracked and don't get it done. Well this past fall I decided to get some of those pieces done. The first piece was a HoHum pine desk. I knew this piece was not desirable as is, so I really needed to get creative. I first cut the top in two at the drawer side. Then I took the end legs off the left side. I then attached the legs upside down to the back of top. In the before and after pictures you can understand what I did. I then stained it cherry and varnished it. Now a useful storage piece that sold quickly.Hope someone will try this, it was fun.
